Releasing Trauma from the Body

Trauma is an experience that shocks both the body and mind. When a shock is stored rather than released, it can lead to future physical and mental health issues.

Our minds keep memories that we can play back like a movie reel. Traumatic experiences, on the other hand, are thought to be remembered as fragments of images and physical sensations.

Because these fragments are not processed, they do not fit correctly in the system. As a result, they frequently manifest as nightmares, flashbacks, or general angst and unease.

The key to unlocking the mind is the body. To begin, you must calm the body’s reaction to trauma, shifting it from a state of danger/alert to one of relaxation/control. Only then can you begin to recognize and process the mental and emotional aspects of the trauma.

Steps for Natural Trauma Healing

  1. Develop a meditation routine: Meditation has been shown to help people manage their emotions and stay calm. It teaches you to pay attention to your breathing and your thoughts.

By becoming more self-aware, you will be able to live a more relaxed life. This will also teach you how to recognize trauma symptoms as they appear.

  2. Physical exercise on a regular basis: Exercise has many advantages for reducing stress, boosting immunity, and elevating self-esteem. According to research, regular exercise can help treat the effects of trauma by bringing serenity, calm, and positive change.

If it’s too difficult for you to exercise every day, make a commitment to doing it as frequently as you can.

  3. Maintain a healthy, balanced diet: The foods you eat can have an impact on your stress levels, either positively or negatively. Food is important in dealing with the aftereffects of trauma. Consider incorporating a variety of fruits and vegetables into your daily diet.

Phytonutrients (plant nutrients) have incredible health benefits and can help you maintain overall health while significantly reducing stress.

  4. Connect with others: Trauma can be difficult because it can cause you to withdraw from others. The amount of energy required to actively participate in social settings or friendships can feel overwhelming or downright daunting.

Keeping in touch with others, on the other hand, can help you get the support you need to heal and move on with your life. Even talking to a loved one can help you start your trauma recovery journey.
